Staying home this summer? Bring creativity to your home with these DIY theatre camps! Created specifically to do at home, students will explore various elements through instructional videos, games, crafts, and exercises. The videos are designed to watch together as a family and are appropriate for all age groups, while the activities are tailored for each specific age group and experience level. The curriculum can vary to your schedule with classes lasting 30-90 minutes depending on how you choose to use the materials. A professional theatre instructor will be on-call for any questions throughout the week. See below for descriptions of each course!

Theatre 101

Nail the fundamentals! In this five-day course, students will learn the basics of acting, theatre history, physicality, voice & diction, how to create a character, and performance & audition techniques. You will receive 5 lesson videos, 5 lesson plans, and 34 related activities.

Musical Theatre

The hills are alive with the sound of Musical Theatre! This 5-day course will cover musical theatre history & basics, acting the song, musical composers, singing techniques, choreographers, dancing, and musical writing. You will receive 5 videos, 5 lesson plans, and 17 related activities.

Comedy

Laughter is the best medicine—and one of the most difficult forms of acting to master! Develop your comedic chops by learning about the history of comedy and the genres of stand-up, satire, parody, sketch, physical, slapstick, and improvisational comedy. You will receive 5 videos, 5 lesson plans, and 19 related activities.

Shakespeare Crash Course

Learn about the Bard in this Crash Course! Students will learn about the life of William Shakespeare, the three genres of his plays including Comedy, Tragedy, and History, in addition to his famous sonnets and Shakespeare performance techniques. You will receive 5 videos, 5 lesson plans, and 18 related activities.

Technical Theatre

Let’s go Behind the Scenes! Learn about the heroes behind the curtain through the art of set, lighting, sound, costume, makeup, and prop design! You will receive 5 videos, 5 lesson plans, and 32 related activities.

Musical Theatre Audition Bootcamp

Saturday, April 3rd | 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Nail the audition! In this virtual workshop, students will learn about monologue & song selection, audition taping, audition etiquette, and cold read tips. Be the person who actually enjoys their audition and get prepared!

For performers who are ready to take their voice to the next level, we are excited to offer this Musical Theatre Voice Virtual Technique Intensive! Students will learn about vocal technique, vocal function, song interpretation, and basics of vocal anatomy and physiology, while employing the tools they learn in collaborative performance. As a team, Zach and Ginny Shockley will provide individualized instruction to each student in this 4-week intensive perfect for any developing performer.

This intensive requires a vocal pre-screen video. Please view the instructions below.

Performers must select a full musical theatre song to use for technical improvement in this intensive. Please record a video of a musical theatre song sung with a vocal backing track or accompaniment and upload the video to the link located on the registration page. The purpose of this video is to give the best individualized instruction to students. This song by no means needs to be perfect or polished. We only ask that it be memorized. Submissions are due by Thursday, April 1st.

ACTING FOR THE SCREEN

Saturday, March 6th | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Free! | Ages 12 - 18

This virtual workshop introduces young actors to the basic elements of the craft of acting for film using fundamental acting techniques and scene study as starting points. Students will learn how to act in front of the camera through training aimed specifically at preparing the actor for the technical requirements of acting on a film set using monologues and short scenes.
