THEATRE VOYAGERS

Theatre Voyagers provides students with a wide-ranging, holistic theatrical experience with the opportunity to work as playwrights, actors, directors, and designers. Under the guidance of their teaching artist, students will create an original adaptation of a myth, story or legend. The play they create is entirely their own from beginning to end. Students write the play, stage it, and rehearse it throughout the week. Presentations will be filmed on Friday during the camp day and will then be released to families to watch and celebrate at home. Theatre Voyagers provides students with a solid introduction to the elements of drama as they learn how a play is structured, while giving them complete ownership of their creation.

JUNIOR THEATRE VOYAGERS

Ages 8-10 | $325
With their teaching artist, students will adapt a storybook into a play by adding sound, movement, dialogue, and creative staging. They will help the teacher stage the play then rehearse throughout the week. Presentations will be filmed on Friday during the camp day and will then be released to families to watch and celebrate at home. At this level, the teaching artist is part of the play to ensure a safe, confident performance environment.

Acting the Song - ONLINE

Ages 11 - 18 | $100
How do musical theatre artists present strong, character-driven performances through song? This Masterclass is designed to introduce students to the analytical and performance demands of acting a song. Working with professional director and teaching artist, Ginny Shockley, students will work on their own pre-selected songs to develop techniques for creating authentic, meaningful, and vital performances. This class will culminate in professionally edited, virtual solo and/or duet performance videos.
Students will learn:

How to find clues provided in the music and lyrics of a song to interpret the material.

Acting techniques and methods for turning interpretation into performance.

The purpose of music in musical theatre.

Vocal techniques for authentic singing.

How to monologue a song.

How to recognize and utilize the emotional staircase of musical theatre.
